Balochistan, a beautiful land full of resources whether its minerals, gems or the brilliant professionals, who proved to be a Shining Star. So today Balochistan Stars introduces and picks another Star from that Shining Stars, let us present you Dr. Syed Shams-Ud-Din, one of the persons who belong to the beautiful land of Balochistan and has made themselves a Shining Star. Dr. Shams has the honor of being Professor and Head of Dermatology Department at Bolan Medical Complex, Quetta.
He was born in the beautiful land of a Pishin, Balochistan, Where he completed his Primary and Secondary Education. To pursue his Intermediate, Dr. Shams moved from Pishin district and went to Bolan Medical College Quetta for M.B.B.S studies. After completing his MBBS, he got appointed as Junior Registrar in the Dermatology Department, Bolan Medical College. Dr. Shams was inspired to be a dermatologist considering the skin problems faced commonly by the people in the locality. He was determined to help the patients with best services. In order to boost his knowledge and expertise, he moved to Lahore for FCPS and MCPS training in Mayo Hospital.
Dr. Shams entitles as the First FCPS Qualified Doctor of Balochistan who came back to Quetta after completing his training in Lahore and joining Bolan Medical College as an Assistant Professor for Dermatology Department. Later he got promoted as an Associate Professor and since 2011 he has the honor of professor and head of the department of dermatology at Bolan Medical College. In his overall career, Dr. Shams has 5 of his articles published on multiple skin problems as the main author while as co-author in 1. Coming forward he has represented and waved the flag of his country by being the part of multiple National and International Conferences, Seminar, Training and Research Panels conducted at US, UK, Australia, Germany, Greece, France and many more.
Our Star for his hard work and services has been awarded by major recognition from different medical organizations which consists of Fatimah Jinnah Award (For his immense contributions to the field), President: Pakistan Dermatologist Association (For leading the projects for developments in the field of dermatology with his team), Designated Member: American Laser Association.
Rather than being a doctor our Star has also the title of a Social Activist. He is running a free Skin Centre on his own without any financial support where he visits along with his fellows once in a week to treat the patients free of cost. Moreover, he’s support in secondary and primary schools to help needy students in gaining a better education and offering scholarships to students for their higher education can’t be forgotten. Dr. Shams believes in promoting youth in education and helping them in every manner to be the best contributor to a society. He believes that the inspirers of his concludes Abdul Sattar Edhi, Tayyip Erdogan and Mahathir Mohammad and also mentions and appreciates Malala Yousufzai for her efforts in promoting education. His message for youth is that “For a young energetic person nothing is difficult or impossible, they must struggle for what they want with full heart and Allah will definitely help them to be successful”.
