Voice of the Valley: The Inspiring Journey of Urooj Fatima

By Ahmed Jahangeer Khan

In the heart of Quetta, amidst the rugged landscapes of Balochistan, a young star is shining brighter with every passing day. At an age when most children are merely exploring their interests, 12-year-old Urooj Fatima has already cemented her place in the hearts of thousands. Known for her soul-stirring, God-gifted voice, this young prodigy has quickly become one of the most recognized and celebrated talents in her hometown and beyond.

Currently a 6th-grade student at Police Grammar School and the youngest among her siblings, Urooj’s journey into the world of music was not planned—it was destined.

A Destiny Unfolded on Stage

For a long time, Urooj’s musical gift remained a quiet, personal sanctuary. She would sing only when she was alone, hesitant to step into the spotlight. However, fate had other plans.

During a major event at her school, the designated student performer failed to show up at the last minute. Sensing an opportunity, her teachers encouraged Urooj to step onto the stage. The moment her voice resonated through the venue, the room fell silent in awe before erupting into overwhelming applause. That single, spontaneous performance marked a turning point in her life. The hidden talent was hidden no more.

Since that fateful day, Urooj’s vocal journey has taken off at a remarkable speed. Beyond her captivating singing, she has also earned deep admiration as a passionate Naat Khawan, touching audiences with her devotion and grace.

Versatility Beyond Boundaries

What sets Urooj apart is her extraordinary linguistic agility. Despite her young age, she effortlessly performs in a multitude of languages, including:

  • Balochi
  • Pashto
  • Brahvi
  • Urdu
  • Persian (Farsi)
  • Hindi

Her versatility has led to invitations from major platforms, high-profile events, and national media networks—including Qtv, Khyber Channel, Serena Hotel, Bilal Auditorium, Boy Scouts, Millennium Mall, Alhamd University, and Balochistan Stars.

Along her journey, Urooj has shared the stage and collaborated with renowned icons of the music industry, such as Akhtar Channal Zehri, Abid Brohi, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Shazia Khushk. Adding another feather to her cap, she showcased her acting potential in 2016 by starring alongside Mr. Nazeer Durrani in the short film Pehchaan.

Recognition and Future Aspirations

Urooj’s remarkable achievements have not gone unnoticed. She has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, shields, and accolades from prominent figures, including:

  • Former Governor of Balochistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai
  • Former Chief Minister of Balochistan
  • IG Police Balochistan
  • Former Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua
  • Renowned scholar Dr. Muneeb-ur-Rehman

Despite her soaring popularity and the overwhelming appreciation she receives, Urooj remains remarkably grounded. Drawing inspiration from musical icons like Atif Aslam and Momina Mustehsan, she intends to keep nurturing her musical craft.

Yet, her vision for the future extends beyond the stage. With a heart devoted to serving humanity, Urooj dreams of becoming a doctor, proving that talent and purpose can go hand in hand.

Quetta has truly found a jewel in Urooj Fatima—a young artist whose story is just beginning to unfold.
