The legal profession is fundamentally built on translating abstract theories of justice into tangible protection for human rights. Hailing from the historic heart of Quetta, Balochistan, Ms. Sabira Islam has not only upheld this principle but broken formidable barrier stones—rising to become the first female Additional Advocate General of Balochistan.

Inheriting a Legacy of Justice

Belonging to a family with deep roots in the legal fraternity, Sabira grew up with a profound respect for the courtroom. For her, pursuing law was both a natural calling and a conscious decision to champion women’s empowerment in a traditionally male-dominated domain.

Her path, however, was not without systemic challenges. Navigating societal hurdles that often restrict female professionals, she found strength in unwavering family backing—most notably from her father-in-law—and her active immersion in community advocacy. Through grit and professional excellence, she turned institutional obstacles into stepping stones.

Strategic Career and Institutional Milestones

Sabira’s rise through the legal ranks reflects relentless dedication and versatility:

• Early Practice & Leadership: Began her litigation career at Hanafi Law Chambers, later serving as the Library Secretary for the High Court Bar Association (HBA).
• Historic Appointment: Shattered glass ceilings by being appointed as the First Female Additional Advocate General of Balochistan, serving as a senior state counsel.
• Academic Leadership: Serves as the Vice Principal of the Law College, mentoring the next generation of legal minds and scholars.
• Bar Advocacy: Heads the Women Lawyers Association as its President, actively creating support structures for female practitioners across the province.

Human Rights Advocacy and Global Representation

Beyond her state and academic duties, Sabira has been a fierce advocate for gender equality and civil rights, collaborating with prominent civil society organizations including the Aurat Foundation, Madadgar Lahore, and UN Women.

A recognized authority on judicial reform, she frequently delivers guest lectures at premier institutions across Pakistan. On the international stage, she represented Pakistan in an extensive Rule of Law and Judicial Reforms Program spanning eight states across the United States.

Her distinguished service earned her the prestigious Best Lady Lawyer Award in both 2013 and 2015.

Civic Vision and Personal Philosophy

Politically active as a member of the National Party, Sabira believes that constitutional literacy and legislative reform are essential for long-term social equity.

An avid reader and lover of classical poetry, she draws inspiration from every individual who selflessly contributes to the progress of the nation. Her advice to the rising generation remains simple yet transformative:
