A Foundation Rooted in Purpose

Anum’s academic path was driven by a clear vision. After completing her matriculation from Babar English Medium High School and intermediate from Islamia Girls College, she pursued a 5-year BA-LLB degree at the University Law College in Quetta.

From the very beginning, her goal was singular: to uplift the women of Balochistan by making them aware of their legal and civil rights. Recognizing that legal advocacy was the most effective vehicle for change, she dove headfirst into the legal landscape.

Breaking Barriers and Building a Chandelier of Hope

Entering the profession was met with both support and skepticism. While early mentorship from senior legal minds—such as starting her practice under senior lawyer Sir Asif Reiki—provided invaluable opportunities, establishing an independent practice brought its own hurdles. As one of the pioneering young female lawyers to set up her own independent firm early in her career, she faced discouragement from some quarters where traditional mindsets doubted a woman’s longevity in the courtroom.

Yet, fueled by resilience and the encouragement of supportive peers, Anum pressed forward. Today, her work extends far beyond standard client representation. Alongside her partner, she regularly visits the Central Jail to take on pro bono cases for women who cannot afford legal defense.

Championing the Marginalized Across Tribal Belts

Anum’s impact reaches deep into the tribal areas of Balochistan, where many women remain unaware of their basic legal entitlements, property inheritance rights, or protections against domestic violence. Working as a legal advisor on UNDP projects, she travels to remote regions to conduct legal awareness sessions, breaking the myth that the law has no provisions for women’s protection.

Her advocacy also transcends gender rights. Demonstrating a deep commitment to inclusivity, she filed a constitutional petition in the Balochistan High Court on behalf of a visually impaired girl to ensure that existing legal rights and welfare policies for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are properly implemented across provincial departments.

Recognition Beyond Borders

Anum’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. She has represented Balochistan on prominent platforms, including the Balochistan Women’s Conference at Serena Hotel and a prestigious national project titled Women in Law 100 in Lahore, where her portrait and profile were displayed among top national achievers.
